my fried chicken was cold on the hot to go side. I should have just got baked chicken it was hot. I was surprised that a large lemonade cost 2.29. The lady making my food also upcharged me 75 cents for getting fried chicken & baked even though I'm supposed to get 2meats & two side's. So my $6 lunch ended up costing $10.33. The Friday & Sunday all you can eat has a bigger variety. They also feature peach cobbler as a dessert. I do like the seasoning of the chicken. For those whom love good home old country cooking, family affair may feature backbones & pigfeet. Not my favorite, but people love them. Also on Fridays & Sunday's they feature fried catfish. The cabbage today was a little bland. But I doctored it up with vinegar pepper sauce ,salt & pepper. I love when family affair has sweet potatoes/candid yams, collard green & mac n cheese, my favorite soul food sides. Fyi they are not open on Saturdays. For dessert I chose lemon cake over the banana pudding.

We were in search of supposedly the best chicken in town. We couldn't find where we were looking for but stumbled across A Family Affair. Thankfully!!! This buffet is CRAZY good. I think I did find the best chicken in town on accident. They have on the buffet, a salad bar, meatloaf on Thursdays, cornbread, black eyed peas, white and yellow cake, pork chops, meat balls, catfish on Fridays. There is more I can't think of. If you leave hungry and unsatisfied it's your own fault. The people are as friendly as the food is good. Check this place out.

I thought that this was pretty good. Its sort of a buffet style but they give you the meat. They had excellent greens and the fried chicken was not too bad. Great sweet ice tea...so hard to get it good. I think Mama E's is better personally, but I would go back here without a doubt. I don't have a lot to say about this. I apologize. I liked it. I would go back. You should go there.

The best soul food joint in town and as far as I'm concerned, the only soul food place in town. This place has been open for a few years now, the menu hasn't changed much, and they have zero reason to change it. They are located on N.E. 23rd, near Martin Luther King. Regardless of what I've read/heard about this area, you aren't going to get robbed or whatever else some dumb shit has said. It's pretty easy to spot from the street, as it's a read brick building across the street from a pawn shop. A Family Affair has daily specials. I can't think of the specials from the top of my head, but I know that Friday is all you can eat catfish, and that comes with the buffet for $9.99. There are plenty of items in the buffet, including blackeyed peas, sweet potatoes, ox tail, fried chicken, salad, cornbread, banana pudding, cakes, baked chicken, and a plethora of other items. You get the picture. If you're reading this review, bookmark this restaurant and try it soon. You certainly will not be disappointed. Oh yes, they close at 4pm and not open on Saturday.

A Family Affair is a must have! This place will gutter punch Mama E's in the throat, soooooo good! We got the buffet, which was filled with fresh fried chicken, catfish and meatloaf, and the best gumbo ever! Cajun king can not compare. The veggies were full of flavor and the roll was perfectly cooked. For dessert my friends got the bananas pudding, I opted for the peach cobbler. We were so stuffed by this point I couldn't do the dessert justice, but it reminded me of being at grandmas house. The sweet tea tastes straight out of Georgia. If you are ever homesick, this place will take you back. I highly recommend, as do my friends!

The buffet had a smaller selection than I had expected. Apparently, you can serve yourself on most of the items but when it comes to the main entrees, you're suppose to point to the item you want and let one of the employees scoop it up for you. I didn't know that nor were there any signs that says so. An employee practically snatched the ladle from my hand. There weren't any labels above the food trays so you are to play the guessing game...or ask them what each entree was, like I heard another customer doing. Our waitress was really nice and didn't even charge us for our sodas. The price wasn't too bad at around $10.30 for a buffet lunch. The food was just ok.

The lunch buffet for take out is only $6. You have to go to the buffet line to ask for a box and tell the server what you want. I love the catfish, and the mac n cheese here. If you like soul food, this is a must try!

Outstanding food for a buffet. Friendly people, great service! It ain't healthy, it ain't organic, it ain't "new age", but it is as good as soul food gets in OKC!

The weirdest food I have ever eaten. The more you eat, the better it tastes. I could eat my way out of bucket of their fried chicken. It is on par with Harolds Chicken in Chicago. Very nice people also.

Soul food at it's best. Go here and eat and you will love it too. Buffet style menu that changes daily. Amazing homemade desserts.

Love this place! Everything is Excellent! Soul Food Galore! You should take a look at the pictures from other reviews before reading because it looks just as good as it tastes. This is a buffet, but don't let that make you believe they are not amazing. Everything on the buffet including the salad bar is FRESH. LOCATION: OK, since I'm reviewing, let me go ahead and remark the location. I'm not at all worried about my own safety going here, but some might be. This place is in the heart of the 23rd street hood, the rough part. It will not bother anyone if you keep it moving right on by, because they get plenty of business. I will point out that the cops & the firefighters eat here regularly. Enough said...I'm moving on to the review. REVIEW: This family can COOK all the way into your heart. They did for me, and I am grateful that I came to visit. I've been back many times, and I go here on my special occasions because I feel like it is a big treat. I have tasted almost everything that they make, excellent food. ** Want to point out that Fridays they have Fried Catfish & Fried Shrimp, it is so good! Here is what I've eaten: They add things & switch things a little bit here and there... which is good. --Corn Bread - homemade and kept nice and hot, ready to eat - gimme some. --Salad Bar - nice fresh salad, but don't load up too much here, cause you'll miss out. --Greens - these are soooooo good, I usually go back for more. --Corn - plenty of corn just ready to go, so grab it like you want it. --Macaroni & Cheese - gotta have this for sure on my plate, cause it is the real stuff and it is gooooood. --Fried Catfish - this is fresh out of the cooker, and it is BIG pieces that are lightly breaded - they have homemade tartar sauce, Louisiana Hot Sauce on the table. --Meat Loaf - homemade just like moms, and it is on point. --Neck Bone - you can't be scared to eat a little neck bone once in a while, especially when it is done right - yes ma'am it is good! --Fried Shrimp - again, right out of the cooker, with a crispy breading - add to that some homemade cocktail sauce - my mouth is watering right now. --Fried Chicken - right out of the cooker, this is lightly breaded, hot, delicious. There are probably some things that I've forgotten... ** HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE - 5 STARS ** (but be careful in the neighborhood)

It has become the best an most consistent restaunt on the eastside. i love it. If you havent been here then something is wrong. Support small busineses so they will grow into bigger and better busineses. The food is Great!!!

I am typing this as I recover from a soul food state of euphoria. Excellent price, great food & wonderful people. I could almost swear I was at my great grandmother's after church enjoying Sunday dinner a host of extended family members. Definitely, not everyday dining but a great trip down memory lane.

Arrived at Family affair at 4pm. Figured I had an hour since it stated they closed at 5pm. Went to walk in and was informed that they were already closed. Oh well. Guess I will try another day.

Everything was good. Lot of choices to choose from and it's reasonably priced. Food was seasoned to perfection! I'm sold!
